By-Laws Change Proposal from September 2025 Meeting

Introduction
The PA Fire Police Association is proposing changes to Article XII of its bylaws concerning death benefits. This proposal is scheduled to be voted on at the next meeting on November 16th, 2025. The proposed changes modify the amount of the death benefit paid to a member's designated beneficiary or estate.

Key points of the proposed change include:

The death benefit would be equal to two times the annual dues for each year of membership after the first year.

For a member in their second year of membership, the benefit would be three times the annual dues.

For a member in their third consecutive year of membership, the benefit would be four times the annual dues.

A member who misses a year of membership can pay three times the annual dues to have that year considered consecutive.
Any modifications to the above death benefit can be voted on by the general membership with a simple majority required for approval. Please reach out if anyone has any questions.
