Fire Policy Activity Reports

Fire Police activity reporting has been a point of contention for years for county associations as well as the State association officers. The question of what is done with the information and what does it do for us or what do we get out of it. I have ask that same question many times over the years. So with that being said I took on the task of finding out. I have been in constant contact with the Fire commissioner and Deputy Commissioner for the past year and a half trying to get that answer, the past couple of commissioners have doon nothing with the information because it has been so lacking in quantity and quality. We found that commissioner Mann did keep the records and included them in his reports. I have been working with Commissioner Cook and especially Deputy Commissioner Tedorski and they are very much interested in trying to secure financial aide for Fire Police equipment and safety gear in addition to what is allowed in relief funds.
There are some things that are in the works that should help the Fire Police, reform of the relief funds, increasing the amount of funds that the smaller departments receive, lifting of some of the spending restrictions allowing more things to be purchased with relief funds , as well as reducing the amount of relief funds used for administration at the State Level. They are also committed to increasing the number of Fire Police instructors to make classes more available to us.
The Fire Police activity reports will go directly to both Commissioner Cook and Deputy Commissioner Tedorski electronically after being compiled by myself and reviewed by the committee that was appointed at the last State Fire Police meeting. Which by the way there are only 2 people currently, if you would be interested in serving on the committee contact myself or President Jim Hoerner. The report will also be read at our meetings and be a part of the minutes of the meeting. Please get the company reports to your county associations in a timely manner so they can be compiled and forwarded to the state association. My goal is 100 % reporting with in the next 2 years, we are currently at about 8-9 % with only 4 county’s reporting. The County reports can be mailed to me or sent electronically to a separate email address set up for reporting, all this information will be sent to your county association officers. It will also be printed in the Newspaper and on our website. If a county association doesn’t exist contact me and we will set up a way for you to get reports included.
