Update to EMS Education Standards to include TIMS

Update to EMS Education Standards to include TIMS
The Pennsylvania Department of Health's Bureau of EMS issued a bulletin requiring all initial EMS certification candidates (EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic) to complete a 4-hour Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) program. This new requirement is effective January 1, 2027. The mandate addresses a gap in current EMS education regarding safe operations on roadways. The TIMS course covers critical safety topics like early warning, vehicle positioning, and tapering. The course can be completed in-person or online, and may be a prerequisite, part of the program, or co-requisite. More information available by clicking the link here.
